A Chiropodist (Foot Specialist) is a primary healthcare professional that specializes in the assessment, management, and prevention of diseases and disorders of the foot by therapeutic, surgical, orthotic and palliative means. Chiropodists are members of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, a regulating body dedicated to supporting Chiropodists and Podiatrists in their delivery of high quality and ethical care.
In Ontario, Chiropodists are not able to bill under OHIP. However, most extended health care plans cover Chiropody services. Every health care plan is different, so we advise you to contact your insurance provider for more information regarding your coverage
Diabetes can be dangerous to your feet - even a small cut can result in serious consequences. In combination with potential nerve damage that impairs ones ability to feel their feet and reduced blood flow can make it harder to heal an injury or resist infection putting one at risk for amputation.
-
Seeing a chiropodist for regular foot care can help prevent complications from diabetes.
A custom foot orthosis is a device that can be discretely inserted into a shoe to support, align, prevent and/or accommodate foot abnormalities and improve how the foot functions.
A foot orthotic is effective in helping to treat a number of foot and lower limb problems including:
Ingrown toenails occur when the edges/corners of the nail grow into the skin causing pain, swelling, bleeding, pus and/or overgrowth of skin around the toe.
-
Come and enquire about our conservative and surgical treatments for your ingrown toenails.
Corns and calluses are thick, hardened layers of skin that develop when your skin tries to protect itself against friction and pressure.
-
The callus patterns on a foot reveals a biomechanical story. Come & find out what story your callus patterns tell & what treatments are made available to you.
Do you suffer from thick, brittle and/or discolored toenails? YOU may be suffering from toenail fungus.
Nail fungus accounts for approximately 50% of all nail problems. If left untreated, it can result in permanent changes to the nail, potentially spread to other toenails/skin and be the source of pain.
We offer ToeFX ClearToe Therapy which uses photodisinfection technology which has been shown to be a safe, effective and non-toxic treatment of toenail fungus.
